Abderrahmane Boucherf

Ph.D. Candidate/Visiting Research Scholar, Entomology

Abderrahmane has always been passionate about the complex relationships between plants, insects, microorganisms, and the influence of human activity. Studying agricultural sciences has been the best path to explore these fascinating networks. His research focuses on developing sustainable management strategies for plant pathogens, particularly through understanding the behavior of their insect vectors.

As a Ph.D. student, Abderrahmane is currently studying the transmission biology of the bacterial pathogen Xylella fastidiosa (the causal agent of Pierce’s disease) by the grass sharpshooter Draeculacephala robinsoni, a species native to the Americas and recently introduced to Europe. He aims to manage the spread of this disease using sustainable strategies based on behavioral manipulation of the insect vector.
