Job Opening: Research Assistant/Technician – Soybean Agronomy Program (Seasonal Hire)

Location: Virginia Tech Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center, 6321 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23437

Position Type: Full-Time | Seasonal (July/Aug - Dec)

Hours and Pay: Weekdays 7:30 AM - 4 PM | Starting pay $16 hour with additional compensation for experience with operating farm equipment or agricultural research experience.

The Soybean Agronomy Program at Virginia Tech Tidewater AREC is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our research team immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about agriculture, research, and hands-on fieldwork.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with field operations including maintenance and harvest of soybean trials
Seed grading and sample processing in lab and field settings
Operating and maintaining agricultural equipment during harvest and data collection
Recording observations and supporting data management
General support for agronomic research activities as needed

Qualifications:

Interest or background in agriculture, plant science, or related fields preferred
Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Reliable transportation to Tidewater AREC
Experience with farm equipment is a plus, but not required
