Registration includes an all event access to the conference from Monday through Friday, all breakfast and lunches, a tour of Virginia's agricultural highlights and an all-inclusive evening banquet dinner cruise on the "Spirit of Norfolk".

The abstract submission deadline has been extended to May 15th 2024 to accomodate requests for "late breakthrough research". Submit your abstracts for oral presentations and poster presentations at https://ISTRO2024.dryfta.com.

Please note that if you submit an abstract and attend the 2024 ISTRO Conference, you have the opportunity to submit in the two Soil and Tillage Research Special Issues with an impact score of 6.5 and a citescore of 12.7. For more information, click HERE

Scholarship recipients for round 1 have been registered and rooms have been booked. You will receive confirmation emails at a later date.

ISTRO offers financial support to support attendance at its international conferences. The following scholarships and supports are available:

1.      1 x $2000 Cees van Ouwerkerk Scholarship, open to young researchers from any country (under 40 on 1st January 2024).
2.      1 x $1500 Elsevier Scholarship, open to young researchers from any country (under 40 on 1st January 2024).
3.      20 x $1500 ISTRO Scholarships open to researchers in the following categories:
a.      At least 8 scholarships for young researchers EXCLUDING those based in high-income countries (under 40 on 1st January 2024)(high-income countries can be found at https://datatopics.worldbank.org/world-development-indicators/the-world-by-income-and-region.html
b.      At least 8 scholarships for research graduate students (normally doctoral students) currently fully enrolled in a university or equivalent degree awarding institution (any age, any country)
c.       Up to 4 scholarships for young researchers from any country (under 40 on 1st January 2024).
The scholarship will pay for the conference registration fees and 5 nights in the conference hotel.

ISTRO Board Members: we will be conducting two meetings during the 2024 ISTRO conference. The “outgoing” board attends the preconference meeting, and the newly elected members will be invited to attend the post-conference meeting.  Meetings will be organized at the conference hotel (meeting rooms to be determined). The duration of the meetings will be around 2 hours each.

Pre-Conference Meeting: Sunday, September 22nd at 7pm (following the reception mixer).

Post-Conference Meeting: Friday, September 27th at 1pm (following lunch)

Welcome to the 22nd International Soil Tillage Research Organisation (ISTRO) International Conference in Virginia Beach, VA, USA! ISTRO promotes engagement among scientists working with and researching soil tillage, field traffic, and their relationship with soil, environment, land use and crop production. This conference is your opportunity to meet with other researchers, share research, and stimulate new collaborations and ideas for the advancement of soil and crop production sciences.

ISTRO 2024's theme is “Living Roots, Living Soil” to focus on regenerative agriculture, soil health, cover crops, residue systems and sustainable crop production as a whole. We aim to focus on how sustainable practices impact soils. Many topic areas of interest to many disciplines will be covered.

The conference will take place in the United States’ renowned and exciting east coast resort city of Virginia Beach, VA. Life here is good because of all the natural beauty that surrounds this resort town perfectly paired with a flourishing local culinary scene, rich history, a variety of arts and entertainment and family-friendly attractions that keeps locals and visitors entertained year-round.

It's no secret that Virginia Beach is known as one of the happiest communities in the country!
